What the world needs now is another Blog

Just kicked of another blog. You know, like the other 50 million people with blogs hoping it will go viral and somehow eventually garner a modest income as it gains readers. Heh, heh... Did I find my niche? Probably not. But at least the subject matter is easy to keep up with. Simply sharing some of the more notable "regurginet" crap geting passed around the Internet (typically email). And maybe, by some mishap, this blog will morph into something a little more interesting and valuable to the viewer. Or maybe not (insert fart sound here).

Cheers,
Dean

Wow, what happened to this blog? Facebook, that's what happened (which is where most of my family information and pictures are displayed. So are family blogs relevant anymore? On the other hand, there are still those who either haven't got around to getting a Facebook account. There are some who are even more reluctant to get onboard, who are suspicious of the internet and wonder if social media sites and the like are perhaps a window of access for conspiratorial governmental operations and control. So, for those who won't be doing Facebook anytime in the near future, I'll make a nobel effort to restart the D&KChristensen family blog. So, hmmm.... what should I post next? I'll be getting random, so...

2010 March spring break trip to Mom and Dad's (New Harmony, Southern Utah)

What trip to Mom and Dad's is complete without a little Karaoke?!

Mini quad trip.

The "white stuff" in March; sweet!

Kill'n time while stuck in "Dam" traffic once again. It took us an hour and half to get to the dern dam. When will they complete the bridge?....

Dean - Gainer

July 11th, 2009
Making use of the Arizona 116 degree day; Check out my "Gainer". Sure, it's not allowed -but- I always say, "you get one"! PS - try not to get blinded by my whiteness!

Cade tuns "double digit".

Cade reaches that impressive milestone of 10! Way to go Cade. You are quite the "mature guy" now. What would our lives be without a Cade around? Boring! So here's to you Cade, keep on doing what you do best; being the Cade-man we enjoy so much. It's so easy, as Cade-man can do it - what? You rock our "parents of young boys" world!

Sidney's Sweet Sixteen!

Wow, can you believe it?! Sidney, 16? Aside from the occasional "Audrie" moments (Christmas Vacation), Sidney is a joy to have around. Karen and I are so pleased with Sidney and the awsome girl she's turned out to be. We love you Sidney; you rock our "parents of adolescent" world!

Care for a "chocolate slab". In true form with Dean's chocolate obsession, a large heaping plateful of chocolate cake is presented on his 46th birthday. That's right, 46; tic, tic..... I hear chocolate adds something like 15 years to ones life.

The Perfect Storm

It's "monsoon season" here in Southern Arizona. And every now and again, we get some whopper thunder and lightning storms. This was one of the better ones we've had (or worse depending on how you look at it). As you can tell by my dramatic "holy crap", the lightning was up-close and personal. Notice how frequent the sky lights up - the lightning was pretty-much a constant. These storms can be pretty dern fun (as long has you or your house isn't struck by lightning)!

Cade gets his "Bear" in Cub Scouts. Good job Cade.

Ron & Vonnie Christensen Family Reunion

Sleeping under the stars (and the morning aftermath).

A scenic 4-wheeler trip from the "Browse" exit (about 10 miles South of New Harmony). It was nice to have your niece Katie with us. Sidney was up in Layton, Utah hanging with her cousin Elizabeth (a one-for-one kid swap).

A Day That Will Live In Basketball Infamy

We are fortunate to bring you this rare albeit brief video clip of an infamous Higley Stake Church Basketball game. A innovative fella on our church team had some old retro jerseys in the classic style of the John Stockton short-shorts, broad elastic waistbands, and sweet polyester fit. This generous team-mate and myself (team coach) persuaded the entire team to wear these spiffy athletic threads at our final regular season game.

Now, how do we unveil our "new (slash old) look"? We agreed to meet in an empty church room prior to the game. At which time, we suited up and developed our blockbuster pre-game intro.. We entered the gym single file (while chanting "go Higley" and clapping our hands). We proceeded to make a full lap around the gym, displaying our fancy-pants look to the entire gym audience (approx. 40 people). Our opposing team was in a state of shock; no doubt as a result of our intimidating appearance. Then we proceeded to conduct our calisthenics drill - complete with jumping jacks, squat-thrusts, and running in place (as caught in this rare video footage). Then onto the standard "lay-up drill". The wives that came to witness the event were not disappointed. I mean seriously, look at our muscular legs in those fine "Richard Simmons" shorts!

To add injury to insult, we were victorious over our opponent. Or maybe the other team was just to freaked out to play any real defense; we'll never know for sure.

Ever seen "Hoosiers"? Below; an equally inspirational moment.

Abigail & Sidney get all hip-hoppy

A few evenings ago, Abigail came out of her room dressed to the 9's hip-hop style. Adding tin foil for "bling teeth" was a nice touch. Sidney shortly joined suit with her almost hip-hop look (looked more like a Harley Davidson / Biker girl?). Watch some of Abigail's tight hip-hop hand work (wink)!

More tight moves.

A few pics. of the duo. (if you click on the pictures, you can make them hhhuuuuge!)

An Unexpected House Guest

A few weeks ago, we had an unexpected guest show up in our backyard. It turns out it was an abandoned pet. It was a very docile 18" Bearded Dragon. The kids took a quick liking to the fella (it was a male - I checked it out on-line); especially Sidney, as you can see.

We ended up adopting him out to a family that had all the correct equipment to maintain an 18" Bearded Dragon.

A little something extra special for Alan (on his birthday)

For Alan's birthday - a "classy" presentation of six cold ones (Ginger Ale - Jamaican Style) and a basketball (hence the 70's retro basketball uni).

[Smiley Mindy - in the background]

Here's a little clip for you viewing pleasure of some tasteful retro-basketball hijinx, while presenting Alan's birthday goodies (basketball).

Family Picure (Keep'n it Fundemental)

Thought I would start off with a picture of the Fam.. Some of you may not know, I've recently lost a great deal of hair (in the last year; so I look a lot older). From left to right: Abigail, Dean (top), Cade (below), Emma (recent addition of the family. And yes, her addition was met with Karen's strict approval), and Sidney.

We thought Karen was in the picture (just to the left of Abigail), but was clipped out by accident.

As I take more pictures of the (growing) Family, I will add them.

The Dean & Karen Christensen Family Blogspot (whew, that was a mouthfull!)

Well, here goes my first attempt at this new-fangled thing (all the kids are talking about) called blogging! Could it get any easier? These folks at blogger.com and Google pretty much do your laundry, wash your car, and wipe your, for you (when it comes to blogging). I can't help but think it's a little toooo easy (looking over my shoulder). Paranoia aside, I hope you enjoy our little "blogspot". I suspect I will be doing the majority of posting, so don't be surprised if it's a little Dean slanted. Feel free to post comments - just keep it tasteful and/or funny (or any combination of the two). Ramble, Ramble.....

This is where we brag and brag about mine, Karen, and our kid's accomplishments and endeavors? I know how much people love that! So I'll do my best to keep it "low key"; or is that on the "down low"? Anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy my occasionally narcissistic ramblings.Enjoy and God bless!
